Approximately 500 hectares of prized vineyards located in the heart of the Langhe region, around Santo Stefano Belbo, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

The Vallebelbo Cooperative is located in the heart of the Langhe, an area famous for the beautiful geometry of its hills, where the echo of Cesare Pavese's poetry underscores timeless history and wine culture.

Vallebelbo

The Valle Belbo, from which the Cooperative takes its name, is an important regional and national winemaking area. It is the homeland of the Moscato grape, which produces the various denominations of the most famous sweet wine on the planet. The territory of Santo Stefano Belbo is characterized by hills and valleys, with a biodiversity-rich landscape featuring vineyards, forests, and fruit trees. The medieval towns dotting the geographic perimeter serve as a magical frame. It is a land rich in cultural influences with a unique geography and a view of the sea from afar. This territory lies within the provinces of Cuneo and Asti. Its distinctive features were evoked masterfully by Cesare Pavese, one of Italy’s most famous poets, whose work has been translated into many languages.

Moscato d'Asti

Moscato d’Asti is the denomination which, along with Asti, is the most recognized of the wines from the Moscato Bianco grape variety. Santo Stefano Belbo is historically the center for the cultivation of this grape variety which, in other eras, achieved fame and success as a unique and inimitable enologic expression. For many decades, the Vallebelbo Cooperative has been a benchmark for this type of grape variety whose vineyards are situated on hills and in valleys. A landscape characterized by soils rich in marl and limestone, with a temperate climate, featuring hot summers and mild winters.

Barbera d'Asti

Barbera is the most widely planted red grape variety in the north-west region of Italy. It has always been ideally suited to the Valle Belbo, thanks to well-drained limestone and marl soils and an ideal mean annual temperature that allows the fruit to ripen. The various expressive nuances of this varietal among the versions present in the Asti region, compared to those in the province of Cuneo, are the primary focus of the Vallebelbo Cooperative to best enhance the character of the vineyards of its growers and the entire area.

Territory and Values

To be responsible and sustainable

The Vallebelbo Cooperative has been and continues to be important for the protection and well-being of a territory where many small agricultural properties are located. The Cooperative ensures the complete management of the winemaking process, from production to national and international marketing. This virtuous path of operational rationalization allows member winegrowers to concentrate on their work in the vineyards while, at the same time, guaranteeing them economic stability, which positively impacts the social system of the entire area.
